Another really old record this is from 1972. Jon Mark and Johnny Almond played on John Mayall’s Turning Point record in 1969 and formed their own band after that. This is their third release. Another one I bought for a dollar. Mark sings and plays acoustic and electric guitar and Almond plays saxes and flutes. There are four other members in the band playing bass, drums, keyboards and more woodwind instruments. The music is mellow Rock with a Jazz sound. Songs like “Song For A Sad Musician” and “I’ll Be Leaving Soon” might be called Yacht Rock now. The three songs on side two are better. “Riding Free” at 8 and a half minutes is the most rocking song with a long jam featuring solos on guitar, bass and drums. “The Little Prince” is a nice mellow instrumental a the final track “Pheonix” is a piano ballad that sounds like it could be in a musical. Not a bad record but it is in pretty bad shape. I can see why it was a dollar. I had their best of record for a while which had nothing from this record on it.
