I originally bought this in 1977 when it came out but sold it in 2013. It had a gatefold cover with the picture on the front of this record on the inside as well as liner notes. This is a 1980 reissue on Polydor Records from the U.K. Not a gatefold cover, liner notes are on the back. It does have a glossy finish on the cover as many U.K. releases are apt to have. This is one of the three records I bought from some guy who had a note on the bulletin board as Sheets selling records out of his garage in Adamstown. Pete Townshend of The Who and Ronnie Lane of Small Faces/Faces each wrote their own songs with both collaborating on the title track instrumental. Many well known guests contribute to the record including Eric Clapton, Mel Collins, Boz Burell, Ian Stewart, Charlie Watts and John Entwistle. Three of Lane’s songs are Folky acoustic songs with “Annie” the best of them. “Catmelody” is a 50’s style Rock and Roller. Townshend’s songs are the ones I like best starting with the first track “My Baby Gives It Away’, heard on the radio. “Keep Me turning” and “Heart To Hang On To”, with brass by Entwistle (of Course), are also very good. Those three songs are on my playlist. “Street In The City”, with it’s orchestration scored by Townshend’s father-in-law, is also one I like. The last song “Till The Rivers All Run Dry” is a cover of a Country song written by Don Williams. The cover and record are in decent shape worth the $2 I paid for it.
