Pink Floyd-Atom Heart Mother

Their fifth album from late 1970. This is their least known album but is a link between Ummagumma and Meddle. The record I have is probably a reissue from the mid 70’s and one I bought in the 90’s. The title track about 23 minutes long is broken up into six parts with titles like “Breast Milky” and “Funky Dung”. It’s hard to tell when one part ends and another begins because it all flows together. It starts with a little brass introduction that is repeated three or four times throughout the track and features some orchestration and a large choir with a woman’s voice being up front. There is also a part with Richard Wright’s organ and David Gilmour’s guitar sounding a lot like parts of “Echoes” from Meddle. Side two has three songs written and sung by Waters,Wright, and Gillmore none of which I like much. The last track, the 13 minute “Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast” ,is a three part instrumental piece with someone talking about, cooking, and eating breakfast. There is anice section with acoustic guitars that I like. Cover is by Hipgnosis who did most of there covers from Ummagumma on.
