Another one from 1989. I’m seeing a trend here. This is a cutout and the record is not in the best shape. Jad Fair was in the band Half Japanese while Johnston had been a solo artist. I don’t know what to make of this record. There are 20 songs, five of them covers. The music is very simple with Johnston singing his songs in a child-like voice. Some songs are just unlistenable. Only 3 I thought were Ok. A cover of a Rodgers/Hammerstein song “Happy Talk” from South Pacific. “Hands Of Love” a solo Paul McCartney song and “Phil Ochs’s “Chords Of Fame”. The songs where Fair takes the lead are the best after those three. Johnston had bipolar disorder and spent time in mental hospitals. He Died in 2019. The record was reissued in 1993 under the title It’s Spooky.
