Another classic! This is the fifth album from Yes and certainly one of their best. I never bought this record because all three songs were on their live album so I didn’t see the need to buy it. I’ve come close to buying a used one before but bought this new one at FYE last month. It’s a cheap reissue, not sure from when, without the gatefolds cover. Roger Dean’s artwork is included on a 4 page insert with lyrics on the opposite side. The 18 minute title track in four parts starts with some nature sounds before Steve Howe’s guitar takes over leading to vocals by Jon Anderson before winding down for a more mellow section followed by some pipe organ played by Rick Wakeman. With a return to another verse of the vocals in part 2 it ends as it began with nature sounds. The two tracks on side two, both around ten minutes are equally as good. “And You And I”, also in four parts, has a more Folk and acoustic sound to it while “Siberian Khatru” is one of their most rocking songs featuring Howe’s guitar Chris Squires pounding bass and Bill Bruford’s drums. This would be his last with the band as he joined King Crimson after this and was replaced by Alan White who had played with John Lennon’s Plastic One Band and his Imagine album. Another of my all time favorite bands I have seen them six times. They are still together after many personnel changes with no original members. Chris Squire and Alan White passed away in the last ten years. Steve Howe is the only long standing member left in the band. He joined Yes for their third album in 1970.
