Formally of The Dirty Three Warren Ellis has worked with Nick Cave in The Bad Seeds and Grinderman. This 2021 recording comes with a booklet with lyrics and credits. These songs can sound melancholy with a four piece string section on most tracks and a 5 piece choir on half of the 8 songs. Similar to the Skeleton Tree record which I liked I’m not crazy about this one. I did listen to both sides when I bought it and tried to trade it in last year but the owner already had two copies for sale and didn’t want it.
