The War On Drugs-Lost In The Dream

This 2014 release is one I bought when I was living on Golf Course Road off Rt 10. I played side one of this two record gatefold album quite a few times back then. After getting off work at 2:30 I would go home (a less than 5 minute drive from my job) take a quick shower and go down to the basement where I had my music. My wife was working at the Wal-Mart in Morgantown till 5:00 so I had a couple hours to have a couple beers and a smoke and listen to some music and crank it up. I remember playing this one a lot. “Under The Pressure” is a great song and the best on the record. “Suffering” the last of the three songs on side one is also very good. This is the first time listening to the other three sides. Not unlike their last record the tracks are mostly mellow, atmospheric sounding with keyboards, synthesizers and electronics dominating rather than guitars. “Disappearing” and “The Haunting Idle”, an instrumental, are what sounded best to me after this initial listen. The records suffer from an unusual amount of crackles and pops.
