Golden Earring is one of my all time favorite bands and this is the last of the live records. Back in the early 90’s when everyone was doing an acoustic album Golden Earring played this live acoustic show in Amsterdam in 1992. This has been released in several different versions. A single CD called The Naked Truth was issued in 1992 with 15 tracks. The Complete Naked Truth from ’98 added a second disc of 7 more tracks. The Fully Naked CD was a 3 disc set from 2001 that had an additional 7 acoustic songs from shows throughout the 90’s. Another CD called Naked II was released in ’97 with more acoustic tracks. This three record set on the Music On Vinyl label came out in 2019 and bought about four years ago at Right Round Records. As with Naked II this was never released in the U.S. and is a European import. Really great playing with George Kooymans and Barry Hay singing and playing guitar, Rinus Gerristen playing bass and Cesar Zuiderwijk on drums. Some great acoustic jams on “Mad Love’s Comin'” “Twilight Zone” and “Radar Love”. Some other standouts are “Jangalene”, “Why Do I?” an their cover of “8 Miles High”. Their last studio album was released in 2012. The band continued touring until 2021 when Kooymans was diagnosed with ALS. A final live album was released in 2019 recorded in Rotterdam. Kooymans , who founded the band with Gerristen in 1961, died in 2025. The band played a tribute concert in January of ’26 with Dutch musicians playing guitar.
