Their 13th album and one that came out in 2022. Dan Bejar formed Destroyer in 1995 in Vancouver. In 2000 he became a founding member of The New Pornographers but left in 2014 to concentrate on his Destroyer band. Like the Pornographers these Are catchy tunes with good instrumentation but characterized by Bejar’s offbeat songwriting and singing. Another recent purchase and first time listen. “It’s In Your Heart Now” and “Suffer” are basic Rock songs with good guitar. “June” has a Funky Disco beat with Bejar going into a spoken word harangue about something, I’m not sure what. The title track is an atmospheric instrumental with synth and piano with some sampled voices. Plenty of electronics with three members including John Collins , another New Pornographers member, credited with playing synths. Another good record I liked every song except the last sone titled “The Last Song” which I didn’t care for. As with yesterdays New Pornographers record lyrics and liner notes are on the record sleeve. After this I had to put on their 2008 record Trouble in Dreams another great one. I will be on the lookout for any older albums or their newest one from 2025.
