Based in The Netherlands The Legendary Pink Dots have put out over 40 albums since the early 80’s. Led By Edward Ka-Spell and collaborator Phil Knight (the Silverman) their music is hard to describe. (See their records I listened to a few years ago). This double CD are songs from the early 80’s, Some have been re-recorded for this 1991 release others are from their original cassette only releases. These tracks are mostly electronic weirdness especially on the 21 minute “Premonition 13”. Others sound like strange English Pop a bit like Syd Barret’s music. “Obsession” and “Time Dance” are quiet and delicate two of my favorites. “Hauptbahnhof” and “Closet Kings” are two more I really like. The final track the 11 minute “Swordfish Lament” is filled with more electronic soundscapes. A good collection of their early work. This is an import from Belgium and one I had to wait three or four months for my special order to arrive.
