Santana-1968 San Francisco

This is a new record I bought a couple of years ago. On Purple Pyramid records it’s a bootleg of a show from the summer of ’68 at the Fillmore. Although the sound quality is not very good there are some great jams with Carlos Santana showing off his amazing guitar playing at an early age. Also in the band at that time were keyboard player and singer Greg Rollie and bass player David Brown. There are some great drum and conga solos by two people who were not around when they recorded their first album in 1969. Just four long jams on this record playing songs that would be on their first album.. Greg Rollie sings on “”Lets Get Ourselves Together”,and “Evil Ways” with Carlos playing a long solo. The record ends with about a minute and a half ot “Rock Me” that sounds like it is from one of their earliest line-ups from 1967. The liner notes on the back cover tell a brief history of Carlos and the band.
