This is the debut album from these French Canadian sisters releasedin early 1976. They play a mix of Folk,Country, and Bluegrass. “Heart Like A Wheel” was covered by Linda Ronstadt on her album of the same name. “Swimming Song” is by Kates former husband Louden Wainwright III who were divorced that year. They had two children,Martha and Rufus both musicians. “Complainte Pour St. Catherine” is a good song sung in French. “Go Leave” a solo by Kate is a bitter song about her divorce from Louden. The last song “Travelin’ On For Jesus” is a traditional Spiritual song. Looking at the liner notes there are some well known people helping out like Little Feat’s Lowell George,Bobby Keys who toured with The Rolling Stones and Tony Levin who later joined King Crimson. There is also a thank you to the woman who looked after “Little Rufus” while they were recording the record in the U.S. Louden Wainwright III also had a daughter by Suzzy Roche of the trio the Roches with her sisters. I saw The Roches perform at one of the bandshell concerts in Reading about twenty years ago. I also saw Louden Wainwright III at Reading’s Riverfest in 1992 the weekend we moved from Philly to Reading.
