Another one I don’t remember where I bought it or when. It has a price tag on it that says $7.99 and a date of 10\/15. I was living in Mohnton at that time. Not bought at Record Connection because all his used records are priced at an even dollar amount. Anyway I was looking through the records on the chair in the other room and saw a record by Marti Jones, his wife, that I listened to about four years ago and thought I had a record by Dixon so I looked in my D’s and there it was. Don Dixon went to the U.N.C. in Chapel Hill and formed a band called Arrogance with three others in the early 80’s. Dixon along with fellow North Carolina native Mitch Easter were responsible for the Jangle Pop sound of the early 80’s and co-produced early records from REM. This record was a European release from 1985 on The Demon label. There are 14 songs here running 52 minutes. A shorter version with two different songs and a different running order was released in the U.S. in 1996. These songs are from ’81 to ’84 most with his band Arrogance some solo work. These have a Jangle Pop, Power Pop or 60’s Pop sound and are all pretty good. All written by Dixon except “Skin Deep” from Nick Lowes great Labor of Lust album. “Praying Mantis” sounded familiar to me. Probably heard it on WXPN at some time. I also really liked “Eyes On Fire”, “Swallowing Pride” and “Southside Girl”. The sticker says Near Mint and I would say the record and cover are in that condition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
