The fourth album from trumpet player Herb Alpert and his band The Tijuana Brass. This was released in 1965 and was one of the few records my dad had. I do remember playing this one in the late 60’s when we were living in Wyomissing. The family thought my dad bought it for the iconic cover. This record sold over six million copies in the U.S. alone and spent 8 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard album charts. Every record store and garage sale has one of these for sale. I bought this one a few years ago. Record Connection had about five or six copies. This one was $2 and looks to be an original pressing. Since I was way past the A’s at that time I was going to play it with the T’s for Tijuana Brass but I forgot so this is my first time playing this in over 50 years. The record is on A & M Records, co-founded by Alpert. The cover is in very good shape and the record sounds good with only a few pops and no skips. The record is very short (28 minutes) with only one of the 12 tracks over 3 minutes. The record is all covers, some familiar to me at the time. “A Tast Of Honey” I knew from The Beatles and “Lemon Tree” I had heard somewhere back then. His version of “Love Potion No. 9” sounds like it could be used for some pole dancing. The mellow “Ladyfingers” and “Bittersweet Samba” is two I remember liking back then. “Whipped Cream” and “Lollipops And Roses” I recognized as being used in the game show The Dating Game. This kind of Jazz Pop and Easy Listening is not my cup of tea, but I felt I had to own it for nostalgias sake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
