I thought I would make Sundays Jazz night. I will start with this one, the second album from the Gateway trio recorded in Norway on the ECM label. From 1978 there are 5 tracks on here. The 16 minute &#8220;Opening&#8221; starts with some very quiet notes on guitar and piano with some brushed cymbals. After a few minutes it turns into an full out jam with excellent guitar from Abercrombie in a more Rock than Jazz style with Holland&#8217;s bass and DeJohnette&#8217;s drums keeping pace. Than Holland does some bass soloing followed by more guitar and then some soloing by DeJohnette, ending as it began with quietly. &#8220;Nexus&#8221; on side 2 is interesting with lots of percussion and guitar sounding like a saxophone or trumpet. The final track &#8220;Blue&#8221; is a mellow piece with DeJohnette playing piano. &#8220;Sing Song&#8221; features Holland&#8217;s bass in a more traditional Jazz sounding composition.
