The first song &#8220;Avenging Annie&#8221; is a song I taped off the radio back in &#8217;73 on my Sears cassette recorder. Those early mix tapes are long gone but I always remembered that song. It&#8217;s based on the song &#8220;Pretty By Floyd&#8221; written by Woody Guthrie. The Byrds covered it in a Bluegrass style on one of their early records. &#8220;Avenging Annie&#8221; uses the same basic tune but replaces guitar with piano as the main instrument. Adding many of his own lyrics it tells the story from Floyd&#8217;s wife&#8217;s perspective. Roger Daltry covered &#8220;Avenging Annie&#8221; on one of his solo albums. I&#8217;ve been looking for this record for quite a long time and finally found it earlier this year for $2.00. After playing side one &#8220;Summer,Summer&#8221; was also a song I knew probably from hearing it on the radio back then. Besides those two songs I don&#8217;t like the rest of the record.
