I didn’t buy it until ’72 or ’73. This record was played constantly during my apartment dwelling years of ’78 to ’80 and was in pretty bad shape.the cover was also falling apart. In 2014 a re-issue came out that included a further two records of a concert in Paris,France in October of 1969 all in tri-fold cover. The re-issue sounds really nice, the sound quality of the live records is not too good, not much separation, and the band sounds rather ragged. The 15 minute “Dazed And Confused” has elements still used on their 27 minute version on their 1976 live album. It also has a 9 minute pairing of Pages acoustic instrumentals “White Summer” from his Yardbirds days with “Black Mountain Side” itself an arrangement of the traditional Folk song “Black Water Side”. They also perform two new songs “Heatbreaker” and the drum solo “Moby Dick”. The original record I had had the wrong time listed for “How Many More Times” and had Page taking writing credits for songs he did not write. The re-issue credits Anne Bredon for writing “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and Jake Holmes for writing “Dazed And Confused”. Obviously every song on here is a classic as are most Zeppelin songs. Heavy into the Blues with their re-working of the Willie Dixon tunes “You Shook Me” and “I Can’t Quit You Baby” and “How Many More Times” which includes parts of Howlin’ Wolf’s “How Many More Years” and Albert King’s “The Hunter”. “Good Times,Bad Times” and “Communication Breakdown” were both straight ahead Rockers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Arguably one of the best Rock Bands of all time, their first record came out in early 1969.
