I bought this cassette sometime in the early 90’s. Their first recording. I remember the cassette had the three bonus tracks that were on the CD including the 26 minute jam “Union Federal”. Self released on cassette in 1989, Electra released it on cassette and CD in 1992. This first vinyl release is a 5 sided set with a tri-fold cover from Record Store Day 2012. I did not buy it then but about 8 years ago. Another record I missed when doing my alphabetical count. The best songs are the ones with less of their dumb lyrics and more instrumentation and also the longest ones. These are “You Enjoy Yourself”, “The Divided Sky” “Fluffs Travels” and “David Bowie” that has the best jam. Page McConnell’s piano seems to be the main instrument here, would rather here more of Trey’s guitar which is best heard on “David Bowie”. A studio album but not too bad. I try to stay away from studio albums from Jam bands. The live ones are always the best. This is the last of my Jam Band records unless I buy another one before this is done. Would like to find ones by Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Moe, or String Cheese Incident but haven’t found any yet.
