The Alarm-Standards

A Welsh band founded by Mike Peters in the early 80’s. This 1990 release is a used one I picked up at Jakes Flea Market in Barto. This is where I sold many of my CDs, cassettes and records in 2013 when I was living in Bally. A good compilation of the best songs from their four records they released. I had three those records but sold them. Also three from their first record that I didn’t have with more of a Punk sound. Two of those songs, “Sixty-Eight Guns” and “The Stand” were videos I watched on MTV in the mid 80’s when I was living in Massachusetts. “The Stand” has references to the Steven King novel of the same name. That song and “Rain In The Summertime” are their two best songs. “Rescue Me”, “A New South Wales” and “Strength” are also good songs. Comes with an insert with lyrics and liner notes. Broke up in ’91. “Peters released some solo recordings before using the name The Alarm MM++ with new musicians putting out 16 releases. Peters died in 2025 from cancer.
