Released in 1974 these are tracks from the late 60’s and early 70’s. I had it on CD as well as Get Up With It and Dark Magus. Love to find those on vinyl as well as Agartha and Pangaea that I had on cassette. One of my favorites from his more adventurous electric period I ordered this from Amazon, the only store I saw it at was in Burlington Vermont that also had Dark Magus and Pangaea. I bought another record there and when I decided to go back and get one of those records the store was closed. This is on the Music On Vinyl label with the cover on heavy cardboard. There are 4 amazing tracks on here, a mix of Jazz Rock Fusion, Funk, Soul, with some Indian instruments like sitar and tamboura. Working with his usual side men of this period there is great playing by Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Billy Cobham, Jack DeJohnette, John McLaughlin, Dave Holland and many others. “Great Expectations” has a nice spacey mellow section. “Ife” is a more upbeat piece with a good drum and bass groove with great improvisation. “Go Ahead John” features McLaughlin’s distorted guitar. “Lonely Fire” is also excellent. Anyone of these four sides is some of his best work from that period. Great recording and pressing. This is the last Jazz record I have unless I order another one from Amazon, which I might.
