This is one I originally had on a double cassette. Released in 1995. This three record set is one I found at Young Ones in Kutztown. According to Discogs this is an unofficial release from Europe on Jemp Records. Like the official release which is a 4 record set also from Jemp records it is on blue and red split colored vinyl. The only difference is that there are no liner notes or running times for any of the songs which are listed on the back cover. The recording sounds a little flat but they are good pressings. Now about the music. These songs were recorded in 1994 at various venues. I am not a big fan of early Phish. Too much of this record is taken up with their dumb lyrics and instrumental noodling. There are some moments in the longer songs like “You Enjoy Yourself”, a song from their first release, Junta from 1989, “Tweezer”, 30 minutes split between sides 4 and 5, and “The Squirming Coil” with about 5 minutes of piano soloing by Page McConnell. Much better jamming after the turn of the century. I’m going to trade this one in.
