The first solo album from Daevid Allen founder of Progressive/Canterbury Scene bands Soft Machine and Gong. He did not stay in Soft Machine long before leaving to form Gong. This record was released after the first Gong album in 1971. Soft Machine drummer Robert Wyatt playes on this record along with others listed on the cover. More Psychedelic than Progressive the highlight is the 15 minute “Stoned Innocent Frankenstein And His Adventures In The Land Of Flip”. “Memories” written By Hugh Hopper another Soft Machine member and sung by Wyatt is another good one and much covered. “Fred The Fish” and “Stoned Innocent Frankenstein” show some of Allen’s silliness. This is an Italian reissue from 1999. It has some kind of marks or smudges on it that won’t come off and plays bad in those areas.
