A classic! This 1972 double album is one I bought around that time. During the recording of this album Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. The three songs on side one “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More”, “Les Brers In A Minor” and the wonderful ballad “Melissa” were recorded after his death. “One Way Out” and “Trouble No More” were recorded at the Fillmore East in 1971 and are on side 3 which also includes “Stand Back” and the Dicky Betts song “Blue Sky” with one of the sweetest guitar solos you will ever hear. Closing the side is an acoustic guitar duet with Dicky and Duane called “Little Martha”. This was the side I always listened to when I played the record back then. What I hardly ever listened to was sides 2 and 4 which contained nearly 34 minutes of “Mountain Jam” also recorded at the Fillmore East. I was not into that kind of Jam music back then but now I love the interplay of Duane and Dicky’s guitars and the drum solos of Jaimo and Butch Trucks. The cover is not in the best shape but the record sounds pretty good for over 50 years old with just a little bit of scratchiness and no skips. The somewhat Bosch-like artwork on the inside of the gatefold cover I had hanging on my wall at some point.
