Since I decided to make Fridays Jam Band night, I thought Saturday would be Progressive night. RPWL is a German band who I happened to see in 2008 at the 3 day Rights of Spring Festival. This three record set was recorded in 2015 at the last stop of the tour supporting the 2014 album Wanted. Falling on their 20th anniversary this show was in their hometown of Freising. Unlike the other dates, this show was more of a Rock Opera with different backdrops, actors and dialog between some songs about freedom and religious dogma and a new drug called Veritas Forte. This concert has also been released on DVD. They have a sound more like the Pink Floyd style of Progressive Rock. The 17 tracks on the vinyl edition omit most of the dialog. I have played the first record several times and really like “Swords And Guns”, “A Clear Cut Line” with vocals reminiscent of Pink Floyd’s “Great Gig In The Sky”, and “Like To Like>The Fisherman” which takes up all of side two. The other two sides sound equally as good with good instrumental breaks. I have two more live albums from them to listen to on Saturdays.
