An odd grouping for this one-off release from Stewart Copeland of the Police, Les Claypool from Primus and Trey Anastasio from Phish. These 13 songs from 2001 are all a little strange and what some would call Experimental. Songs by Trey sound a little like Phish while ones by Claypool sound a bit like Primus with Copeland’s excellent drumming throughout. “Oz Is Ever Floating”, probably the most normal track, is on my playlist. It references recording engineer Oz Fritz and mentions John C. Lilly, a psychoanalyst who experimented with sensory deprivation tanks. The movie Altered States was based on his work. Trey plays some nice electric guitar in spots and acoustic on two tracks. They actually made a short tour supporting this release. Probabvly sounded better live.
