Joe Strummer-Assembly

This compilation has songs recorded after the breakup of The Clash including some live performances and songs by The Mescaleros his later band. From 2021, this was released a year prior to his death in 2022 from a heart attack. I had listened to side one of this 2 record set when I bought it. Another one I missed when doing my original alphabetical listening project. Side one has “Johhny Appleseed” from the first Mescaleros CD I have and a live version of “I Fought The Law” a Clash favorite and “Tony Adams” another one I liked and put on my playlist. The other three sides had good songs as well. “Love Kills” is from The Sid And Nancy soundtrack, a movie I rented when I was living in Hull in the mid 80’s, that sounds like something from any hair band from that time. “Mondo Bongo” is another good one from the first Mescaleros CD as is “At The Border Guy”. “Forbidden City” has a great catchy chorus and I love the electronics in “Yalla Yalla”. Two other Clash songs are on here A live version of “Rudy Can’t Fail” and an acoustic performance of “Junco Partner”. A few more to go on my playlist. Strummer does a solo acoustic cover of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” Good heavyweight gatefold cover and record. Lyrics and credits are on the record sleeves. Liner notes by Jacob Dylan.
