The second album from this English band. I have the original U/K. release from 1974. Bought this esed sometime in the 80’s. All four members write and sing in different combinations. Graham Gouldman wrote 60’s hits for The Yardbirds, Hollies and Herman’s Hermits. Eric Stewart was in Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders. Lol Creme and Kevin Godley were friends with Gouldman in school. Gouldman was in the last incarnation of The Mindbendres. They formed 10 cc in 1972. Interestingly enough I learned that all four played on the 1971 album Space Hymns by Ramases that has a Roger Dean cover that I have been looking for. Side one of this record is quite good with their Art Pop songs, all witty and employing different genres. “The Wall Street Shuffle” and “The Worst Band In The World” were songs played on FM radio and ones I recorded on my early cassette mix tapes. “Hotel” is another good one heard back then. “Clockwork Creep” is about a bomb on a plane. Never listened ton side 2 much. Not too familiar with those songs. I would like to find a good compilation album of their music. I had one of those History of Rock compilations from Spain but it had only one song from the first ( not the two best that were singles) and nothing from this record. I traded that one in last year.
