I know I listened to the CD last year when I was playing my CDs but only listened to the second disk as the other one was stuck in my cars CD player that I sold last year. I said I would like to get a vinyl copy of this in that blog and last year I bought it. Recorded over a six night stand at the Capital Theatre. The first set is on the first two records of this four record set and includes the second ever playing of “Bertha”, “Loser” and “Playing In The Band”. The first performance of those songs was on the night before. Starting off with “Truckin'” it is followed by “Loser” and “Cumberland Blues”. Pigpen takes the lead on the blues numbers “It Hurts Me Too” and “Smokestack Lightning”, also playing harmonica. “Playing In The Band” is a short five minutes, it could last over 30 minutes in later years. The first set ends with ten minutes of “China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider” also played longer in later shows. After this I had to listen to the second set again. I think this “Wharf Rat” might be my favorite. Like the two other From The Vault releases it is in a four page book form and sounds great.
