Allman Brothers Band-Live At The Beacon Theatre 1992

Recorded at New York City’s Beacon Theatre over two days in March of 1992. The fourth line-up of the Allman Brothers after re-forming in 1989 although without Johnny Neal. Newcomers Warren Hayes, Alen Woody and third drummer Marc Quinones join the four remaining original members. Originally released as a two disc CD this two record set with 10 of the 16 tracks from the CD was released on Record Store Day 2014, a limited edition of 4,000. Some amazing jamming on electric and slide guitar by Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes. “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed”, on all five of my live Allman Brothers records, is on side three.20 minutes long it features drum solos, starting with hand drums by Quinones followed by Jaimoe and Butch Trucks. Other great guitar work on “Dreams”, “Blue Sky” and “Whipping Post”. “Jessica” is played without the keyboard solo. Gregg Allman plays acoustic guitar on “Revival”. Two Blues standards “Statesboro Blues” and “Hoochie Coochie Man” and “End Of The Line”, from their latest record are on here as well. A great recording and good pressing on Epic Legacy Records. I had a ticket to see The Allman Brothers in August of ’93 but was bummed out to hear Betts could not make the show because of personal reasons. Later found out he was arrested five days earlier. He was replaced with Jimmy Herring. As it turned out I didn’t make it to the concert because one of my cars was having some problems and didn’t want to risk a drive to Philly from Reading and my other car was not strictly legal and I didn’t want to drive it for the same reason. Did get to see them 11 years later but by that time Betts was replaced by Derek Trucks.
