Aerosmith-Get Your Wings

I have seven albums from Aerosmith all pre-rehab. I will listen to some of them before this is over but I wanted to listen to this one, my favorite first. Released in 1974 this was the first music I heard from Aerosmith when I bought it that year. With it’s sexually charged lyrics and kick-ass dual guitars I fell in love with it. I have many fond memories of listening to this record and the tape I made of it to listen in my car as my fellow co-workers would head out to Beaver Valley after work for some partying. Every song on here is a classic. The lyrics of “Same Old Song And Dance”, “S.O.S. (Too Bad)”, Lord Of The Thighs”, “Woman Of The World”, and “Pandora’s Box” are subject matter every teen aged boy thinks about. Their cover of 50’s song “Train Kept A-Rollin'”, a hit for The Yardbirds in the 60’s, with it’s applause at the end that leads to the opening acoustic guitar of “Seasons Of Wither”, one of my favorite songs of all time , is simply amazing. The cover of this record is almost in two pieces and the record has many scratches on it. There are plenty of crackles and pops but the recording is so loud and clear they are not so noticeable. I’ve thought about buying a reissue but with the state of vinyl today it might sound worse. Best to look for a vintage recording in good shape.
