Organist Brian Auger has led The Trinity and later The Oblivion Express. This was recorded at a Jazz festival in Berlin in 1968. The Trinity included Julie Driscoll on vocals with David Ambrose and Clive Thacker on bass and drums. After a couple Jazz Standards “Red Beans And Rice” and “Freedom Jazz Dance” featuring Auger’s very fast organ playing with guest Don Ellis on trumpet on the later, the next four tracks feature Julie Driscoll’s vocals. The first “Take Me To The Water” has some sound issues and her voice is very low. The three on side two are much better. Julie sounds like Grace Slick on “Season Of The Witch”, “Shadows Of You” and “When I Was A Young Girl” which sounds like Jefferson Airplanes “Bear Melt” to me. There is much applause after these songs but you can hear some boos in the background as this music is not what you would expect to hear at a Jazz concert. This is a 2018 Record Store Day release with a limited number on purple translucent vinyl. This was bought much later I don’t remember where, not at one of my usual stores, and is on black vinyl.
