Paul Butterfield-Live New York 1970

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was formed in 1965. The band included two great guitarists Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop. By 1969 the guitarists had left replaced by a horn section including David Sanborn on sax. This band played at Woodstock and the song “Love March” is on the soundtrack album. This 2 record set was recorded in N.Y.C. in December of 1970 with the same personnel. This was a studio radio concert with a small audience. “Born Under A Bad Sign” the first song is given a funky Jazz tinged treatment and is one of the better tracks. 4 of the songs range from 10 to 14 minutes and there is plenty of room for soloing on bass, drums, guitar and Butterfield’s harmonica. I guess my favorite is side 4 with “Love March” and “Back Together Again”, two anti-war songs, and “So Far So Good” with a killer sax solo. This was released in 2017 and was another $5 record at FYE. The record sounds good but there are some glitches in the recording. Sometimes it will skip a beat or the sound will get lower for a second. Not sure if I will keep this record or trade it in.
