Wobbler-Rites At Dawn

Another album by Wobbler for this Saturday’s Progressive record. This is their third release originally from 2011. This reissue is a Norwegian import on translucent avocado green vinyl. Second time listening to this, like the others I like it more every time I hear it. New singer Andreas Prestmo sounds even more like Jon Anderson than the last one. Sometimes listening to these songs you would swear you were listening to Yes, but there are also sounds of other 70’s Prog Rock bands like Gentle Giant, Genesis, King Crimson and E.L.P. The record starts and ends with two short instrumentals “Lucid” and “Lucid Dreams”. In between are 5 great tracks. “La Bealtaine” an 8 minute song on side one is one I put on my playlist on first listen. It is followed by the 12 minute “In Orbit” Side two starts with two shorter songs “This Past Presence” and “A Faeries Play” both a little on the mellow side. “The River” a 10 minute track opens with some sax before adding guitar, flute, mellotron and great harmony vocals. It’s been 5 years since their last record was released. Hope they have one out soon. I just purchased a solo album by their keyboard player that I will be listening on a future Saturday night. He and two other band members are also involved in a side project called The Chronicles of Father Robin and have released 3 records on this same Norwegian label Karisma. Love to find one of them!
