For Progressive Saturday I decided to listen to another Wobbler album. Hinterland was their first one from this Norwegian band, released on CD in 2005. This vinyl edition came out in 2021. There are three songs on this double album. The title track is a 28 minute epic with the last ten minutes on side 2 of the first record. “Hinterland” has parts that sound like E.L.P., Genesis, Yes and King Crimson. With lots of stops and starts it’s never in the same style for long. “Rubato Industry” is 13 and a half minutes long and is on side three. It has both loud and quiet sections and is also good. The 15 and a half minute “Clair Obscur” is an instrumental and is my least favorite track on the record. I have listened to all five of Wobbler’s records when I made digital copies of them since they didn’t come with download cards. I was able to make a perfect seamless joining of the two parts of “Hinterland” if I do say so myself. Like their amazing fourth record I listened to earlier I like it more every time I hear it.
