The Black Crowes broke up in 2015 but got back together five years later like I knew they would. This record was released in 2024 with Chris and Rich Robinson joined by long time bassist Sven Pipien and some new members. Playing good 70’s style Rock and Southern Rock, this sounds like they never left. I have played side one a few times and liked all the songs. “Wilted Rose” features Country singer Lainey Wilson on background vocals. First time listening to side two and those five songs are also good. A couple of these songs will go on my playlist, not sure which ones right now. The first recorded music after their reunion was an EP of songs from 1972 which I bought in 2022. Thought I would listen to that also

These are covers of The Rolling Stones, Little Feat, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, T-Rex and The Temptations. The Temptations song “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” written was by the songwriting team of Whitfield/Strong who wrote many Motown hits in the 60’s. I was sure this song was from the 60’s but it was written in 1971 and recorded by The Temptations in 1972. These six songs are all pretty faithful to the originals.
