Guitarist and singer Thalia Zedek was in the bands Uzi, Live Skull and Come before going solo. This is her debut CD from 2001. First time listening to this one. The first six songs were guitar oriented, slow and rather moody. Track six is a Leonard Cohen cover. I’ve never been a fan of him. The final five are better with piano and viola added to the mix. “1926” and “Desanctified(Full Circle)” were good songs. “Manha de Carnaval” is from a 1959 French movie and also covered by Frank Sinatra. Chris Brokaw her bandmate from Come plays electric and slide guitar as well as bass on “Treacherous Thing”. I also have a six song EP of hers that came out in 2002, with many of the same people backing her up, that I thought I would listen to. Sounds much the same as the better songs on Been Here and Gone. She does a good job of covering Velvet Underground’s “Candy Says” and the title track Dylan song. Her and her band have continued to put out records, the last earlier this year.
