Steve Wynn-Here Come The Miracles

A good CD from Steve Wynn of The Dream Syndicate as well as many side projects. Wynn sings and plays guitar with wife Linda Pitmon on drums, former Dream Syndicate member Chris Cacavas on keyboards and Dave DeCastro on bass. Chris Brokow of Come and Codeine plays on most tracks. Howe Gelb and John Covertino of Giant Sand also contribute to a couple tracks. Released in 2001 the two CDs are colored, one red, one blue. I have played the red disc before. The first four songs I knew but that is about as far as I went. The first two tracks “Here Come The Miracles” and “Shades Of Blue” are great rockers and both were early songs on my playlist that I listened to at work for over five years. “Sustain” and “Blackout” are also good. The rest of the songs( 7 more on disc 1 and 8 on disc 2 I had not heard before. They all sounded OK. Recorded in Tucson, most of the songs deal with the Southwest of the U.S. with titles like “Southern California Line”, “Death Valley Rain” and “Topanga Canyon Freaks”. Supposedly the first of three recorded in Tucson making up a “desert trilogy” but I have not seen the other two.
