Born John Wardle, he took the name Jah Wobble from Sid Vicious’s drunken mispronunciation of his name. Jah Wobble was originally in Public Image Ltd. with John Lyndon after the break-up of the Sex Ptstols. Leaving after their second album Wobble has played in many groups of Industrial , Ambient and Krautrock musicians as well as solo and guest appearances on other artists recordings. This 1995 release has 7 tracks in three different styles. Wobble plays bass and drums on all tracks as well as some electronics. “Heaven & Earth”, “Love Song” and “Om Namah Shiva” are World Music with Oriental, African. Middle Eastern and Indian rhythms and instruments. Two Tracks feature Wobble alone playing Electronic “Orchestration” on the 3 minute “Dying Over Europe” and on the 11 minute “Divine Mother” adding drums and bass to the mix. This is my second favorite track, the first being the 15 and a half minute “Gone To Croatan”. That and “Hit Me” are more Jazz flavored with Pharoah Sanders playing flute and sax, Bernie Worrell on keyboards and Nicky Skopelitis on guitar. Bill Laswell produced these two tracks. There are some nice mellow moments on “Gone To Croatan” with Sanders flute and sax. “Hit Me” features two DJ turntable scratchers. An interesting listen.
