A side project of husband and wife rhythm section from Talking Heads Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. Formed in 1981 this is a two disc live recording from their Clubhouse studio in Connecticut with 50 invited guests. An 8 piece band, including Chris and Tina with two back-up singers, percussion players, keyboards, guitar and Chris and Tina on drums and bass. The quality of this recording is very good playing in styles ranging from Rock and Funk to Soul and World Music. After being introduced the band launches into “Suboceana” my favorite nearly 7 minutes long with some nice jamming. Along with originals there are covers by Lee “Scratch ” Perry (“Soul Fire”), Trey Anastasio (“Sand”) “You Sexy Thing”, “96 Tears” and their closing song Al Green’s “Take Me To The River” a hit for Talking Heads. They also play some of their best songs including “Wordy Rappinghood”, Genius Of Love” and “The Man With The 4-Way Hips”. This 2002 CD was reissued in 2010 with 12 of the 17 tracks plus a secod disc of remixes from the Genius Of Love album.
