Formed by Mark Kozelek after the end of the Red House Painters. The first few releases featured ex Painters Jerry Vessel and Anthony Koutsos. Later releases were more solo efforts. This is the second release from 2005. More an EP at 30 minutes these are all songs by Modest Mouse done acoustically with Kozelek’s subdued voice sounding sometimes like Nick Drake. I have never heard the originals since I have never had any of their music on any format although I do have the Ugly Cassanova record that Issac Brock is a part of. After checking my digital collection I do see I have about 15 LPs and EPs downloaded so maybe I will listen to the originals sometime. The one I liked best was “Space Travel Is Boring”. He also recorded a CD of acoustic AC/DC covers under his own name that I listened earlier in this countdown.
