The Sugarcubes- Life’s Too Good

“Those wacky Icelanders” is how one music critic described another band from Iceland and you could call The Sugarcubes the same thing. The debut release from the band that featured Bjork on vocals and keyboards. Bjork’s singing along with Einar Orn Benediktsson’s Speaking/Talking vocals and their New Wave/Pop sound made me think of The B-52’s especially on “Sick For Toys”. The single “Birthday” is the best with Bjork’s little girl vocals. “Dues” is another good one as is “Coldsweat”. The U.S. CD adds six bonus tracks. Two sung in their native Icelandic, remixes of “Deus” and “Coldsweat” and two others. I also have their second release on vinyl and had their final one on cassette. Bjork went on on a successful solo career. I had her four live CDs from different tours but they were sold along with the cassette.
