Nuyorican Soul-Nuyorican Soul

A collection of musicians brought together by producers “Little” Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” Gonzales of N.Y.C. Percussionist Tito Puente plays on some of the tracks. More Jazz, Soul, R & B and Latin music. Seems to be a one-off project, I don’t see any other releases just a few singles. More good songs starting with the first two “I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun” a cover of a song by Rotary Connection a band that featured Minnie Ripperton as one of their singers, and “It’s Alright. I Feel It” with vocals by Jocelyn Brown. This is followed by 3 Jazz pieces, one “Nautilus” written by Bob James with some nice keyboard work by Peter Daou. Eddie Palmieri plays to keyboard compositions one solo piano and one “Habriendo el Dominante” with timbales, congas and bass. Roy Ayers contributes two with him playing vibes and some Scat singing. “Runaway” is another nice Soul and R & B song with vocals by India, a Puerto Rican singer. “Shoshana” is another Jazz tune followed by some Hip-Hop music by Jazzy Jeff , the Fresh Prince’s partner on “Jazzy Jeff’s Theme”. The CD closes with “You Can Do It( Baby)” with guitar and vocals by George Benson. It has been released as a two record set. I might pick it up if In see it.
